British Sprint Championships (2nd & 3rd August 2008)

The British Sprint Championships are held once a year and are held at Stewartby Lake, Bedford.

OSY400 Craig Speller(21) sets Pole Position again by a great margin of 1.8 seconds. 2nd Tony Knights(34), 3rd Mike Pacey(14), 4th Danny Woods(58), 5th David Smith.

HEAT 1: Craig lead from the start but in lap two had a drop in power and Tony Knights passed but unfortunately the race was stopped as Mike Pacey(14) fell out at turn two. Frantically Team-21 fixed the fault prior to the restart and Craig Speller(21) won the heat from the restart.

Photo's will follow shortly.

HEAT 2: Craig once again dominated and won heat 2.

HEAT 3: Team-21 took an unusual approach and tried a new propellor. This was not as quick as his others but still he took the win.

HEAT 4: As Craig Speller(21) had won the first 3 heats he did not need to do the 4th heat but opted to try something different and use it as a test session.
The wind was getting up and not ideal for hydroplane racing however the Heat went ahead. Craig once again lead from the start and was going well until lap 2 at turn 2 when a gust of wind took the front of the boat and unusually made the boat kite. Craig was unable to continue. Tony Knights took the win. Danny Wood(58) gained throughout the weekend by some 2.5 seconds a lap, well done.

Both Craig Speller and the Newace hull were not hurt and will be available for the special event at Chomley, Chesire on 9th & 10th August.
