British Sprint Championships 2nd & 3rd August 2008
2nd Aug 2008
Craig Speller set pole position in practice by a huge margin of 1.85 seconds over Tony Knights(34).
HEAT 1: Craig Speller(21) lead from the start with Tony Knights(34) in 2nd, Mike Pacey(14) 3rd, Danny Wood(58) 4th & David Smith 5th.
HEAT 2: Positions as above.
HEAT 3: Craig opted to try out a new propellor. Got off the start well but was lacking overall pace, however Craig still took the victory. With 3 best results to count and throwing away the worst this was enough for Craig to secure the title of British Sprint Champion for the 2nd consecutive season.
HEAT 4: Team-21 decided to race in this heat despite not needing to and tried something different. KITE FLYING!! 2nd lap in 2nd turn bouy a sudden gust of wind lifted the nose of the boat causing a kite affect turning the boat through 360 degrees. The race was stopped and the restart saw Tony Knights take the win.
Both Craig and the boat were un-scaved.
Having won the event the soaked engine was stripped down and completely checked for legality ensuring that all componenets are to the homologated specification.
