Sprint Championship Stewartby Lake (Bedford) 31st July & 1st August 2010 Craig Speller
Having raced at Oulton Broad on Thursday evening on 29th of July 2010 only the second time the boat had been tested the lap times were good almost hitting the lap record. The top three teams and drivers did not race so close to a main event but were in attendance and were impressed. That said the course size does change and with no one to compare to we were not sure where we were compared to others.
Race day at Stewartby, practice got underway and the times posted. We were a full 3 seconds per lap faster than the next best, we were delighted the new design obviously works really well.
Heat 1
Was led from start to finish with a margin of 14 seconds overall in a fairly calm water condition.
Heat 2
Was very choppy the water almost with white tops on, but once again the boat led from start to finish and handled really really well in rough conditions. Even lapping the National leader James Bowman (37).
Heat 3
Similar to heat 1
Heat 4
With the best three results counting we did not need to race heat 4, however we went out with another prop on for testing purposes and still won by a full 12 seconds on complete race time.
The Newace 3 prototype hull was so successful that we will produce Composite hulls from this wooden prototype.
They shall be vacuum bagged and can be produced in either Carbon, Carbon Kevlar, Kevlar or Fibreglass. The weight will be around 40kg the first will come off in the closed season, keep an eye on our site and we will post the information as soon as it is available.
PLEASE DO NOT FORGET THAT THESE HULLS ARE
DESIGNED BY TEAM-21 AND RIGOROUSLY
TESTED BY 4 TIMES OSY400 WORLD CHAMPION,
TAKE NO PRISONERS!! (CRAIG SPELLER).
